2011 Winter Private Lessons:
I am currently accepting new students. Private art lessons are taught at my in-home studio in Avon Lake, OH.Call 440*935*3564to schedule and receive supply list *most supplies provided
Lessons are held Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, or 2nd & 4th Saturdays. Typically, lessons run for 1 hour once a week, but scheduling may be flexible to meet your needs. Pay as you go or by the month, or purchase a 10 lesson pass.
Lesson rates:
Adults: $35.00/hour
Middle School- High School: $25.00/hour
preK- 6th Grade: $15.00/ hour
**Sibbling/ friend discount: schedule your lessons together and save $5.00 off per lesson/ per additional artist. (Due to limited Studio space no more than 3 artists at a time.)
Lessons offered:
All Lessons are tailored to meet the needs of the individual artist.
Art Sampler- This is an introduction to a variety of art techniques and materials. Great for the absolute beginner, you will work on basic drawing skills, experiment with watercolor pencils and paints, oil and chalk pastels, charcoal and more.
Drawing- The main focus will be on learning how to 'draw what you see' although in some lessons drawing from imagination will also be encouraged. You will experiment with a variety of drawing media and materials and learn different techniques and drawing styles. Fill your sketch book as well as create 'stand alone' drawings of the provided props and/or reference photos.
Colored Pencil Drawing- Learn and use colored pencil techniques to create a variety of drawings from photos and still-lifes.
Acrylic Painting- For the Beginner you will learn and practice basics such as brushstrokes, color mixing, and composition while painting from the provided still-lifes, drawings and photographs. Those with some experience or that are more advanced will receive coaching and advice while working on creations entirely of your own. You will bring your own drawings, photos, and or props to work from.
Acrylic Landscapes- In these lessons we will focus on creating lively acrylic landscapes using textures and light. Bring in your own photos or choose from my collection for inspiration. Some painting experience required.
Acrylic Florals- Paint a variety of floral paintings based on the works of famous artists, and then moving on to your own creations painting from photos and still-life. Some painting experience required.
Watercolor Painting- Get ready to explore the world of watercolors. Experiment with mixing colors, learn basic brushstrokes, create different tints and shades, take your paints from transparent to opaque, and see what special effects you can make. Those with some experience or that are more advanced will receive coaching and advice while working on creations entirely of your own. You will bring your own drawings, photos, and or props to work from.
Acrylic Abstract Expression: Discover dynamic ways to express yourself on canvas using color theory, design elements, mixed media and unique textures. Experiment with different mediums added to your acrylic paints such as Thickening Gel, Sand, Glass beads, etc.
Group Classes:
Having been hired as a Drawing instructor for Young Rembrandts, I will no longer be offering group classes for kids. If you are interested in a group drawing class for pre-school or elementary children please visit the Young Rembrandts website to see classes available in your area.
